Tropics

We were lucky to spend a week with my family in southern Florida last week...it was like being in another world-we were constantly comparing things to the way we do them back in the US...hahaha. So you can get an idea, here is a taste of the tropics:
Pompano beach- where my tia lives-bike rides to the beach, evenings in the pool, walks on the pier, homemade arepas, FAMILY, and the best market I've ever been to in the states (photos to come).

Later we took a few day trips down to Miami passing Ferraris, Mazerattis and Aston Martins-suddenly making a BMW look boring, enjoying the clean white high rises of downtown, crossing under pink skies to South beach where you better look good cuz everyone is looking, eating fantastic Cuban food, swimming in the warm, crystal blue waters at the beach, and loving the art deco on Ocean Drive and the heeeeat on South beach...

We even made it all the way down to Key Largo..but, unfortunately we got rained out that day.
It was tropical, hot, and soo much fun...a perfect mini beach escape. xo

sweet and salty

Maybe I'm way behind on this trend...but this spring in Madrid I tried popcorn ice-cream and loved it, a subtly salty goodness with the sweet cream was great. Since I've been home I've been browsing through all my mom's magazines and saw the idea for a popcorn sundae...yikes, looked too good. If you can't get the popcorn ice-cream you can always try it like this: vanilla ice-cream, sprinkled with popcorn (and maybe some peanuts), and drizzled with caramel sauce. Man, I really need to detox after all the crazy americana foods we're loving...

In the city

Just back from a fun week in Chitown with my bestie. Looooved her new house and dreamed up plans with Diego to buy the grey one down the street so we could drink lemonade on the porches like southern belles on hot summer nights.

Later we picked out our suburb Frank Lloyd Wright home in Oak Park where we would get arepas at Aripos every week.

Then, we decorated our dream houses with a few favorites at the Chicago Institute of Art.

And finally, we planned our fabulous future dinner parties with flowers and veggies from the Logan Square Farmers' Market.
Perfect visit! Thanks for having us!

Pure Michigan

After the whirlwind three weeks with my mom in Spain, we headed back to the states. We've been here almost 2 weeks now and I can't get over how much fun a Michigan summer is! Lakes, rivers, forests, fishing, kayaking, barbecuing, mosquitos, beaches, Oberon in Kalamazoo, and so many celebrations! Funny how you really start to realize what you have after a long absence.

So excited for the next few weeks that will be filled with more hugs and laughter in Chicago and Miami!
